Why many customers choose wood flooring from R&S Flooring

Hardwood floors bring classic styling and natural warmth to any home. Not every room in the home is suitable for solid wood floors. The beauty of engineered wood can solve the problem. The performance of engineered wood flooring makes it possible to install it in any area of the home, including basements and bathrooms.

Engineered wood

The construction of engineered wood flooring consists of layers bonded together. The top layer has all the beauty and characteristics of the species of wood that was selected. Multiple layers of high-density fiberboard are below the surface layer. This construction creates greater stability and strength than solid wood boards.

Superior stability makes engineered wood resistant to humidity and temperature changes. This type of floor is beneficial to homeowners because it can be installed in places where wood is never expected to be seen, including moisture-prone areas such as finished basements.

Solid wood

Though engineered wood is not solid wood, it is still genuine wood that has lifetime value, beauty, and warmth. Quality engineered wood performs as well and lasts as long as solid wood. It can be refinished, but not quite as often as solid wood can.

Engineered wood is available in an impressive, wide range of finishes, wood species, textures, and colors. After they are installed, engineered and solid wood planks look alike.

Pre-finished hardwood

Most factory finished hardwood has several coats of wood finish applied to the surface. Most hardwood floor manufacturers are applying 6-10 coats of an ultra-violet (UV) cured urethane. These finishes remain on the surface of the hardwood and form a protective coating. Surfaces finishes are popular today because they are durable, water-resistant and require minimal maintenance. Various gloss levels are available. Common finishes include oil-modified urethane, moisture-cured urethane, water-based urethane, and penetrating stain and wax.

Unfinished hardwood

Unfinished hardwood flooring means that you begin with a bare hardwood floor and than the floor is sanded, stained, and finished in the home. The process does take several days, and in years past was pretty messy, but new dust containment systems make this option much easier than before. Using this method your floor will be finished to your specifications.

Wood floor installation

Depending on the product choice, engineered wood floors can be floated, glued or stapled. Floating floors go over existing floors and are easiest to install. Technology has made it possible for interlocking board edges to fit together seamlessly. The boards are pushed gently into place. The fit is secure and tight. No special carpentry tools are needed. Do-it-yourselfers can have a floor that looks professionally installed.

R&S Flooring also carries solid wood flooring for those who prefer it. All the wood flooring products provide long-term protection against abrasive wear, moisture, and stains.
